Anno 2019: Chiara legge Caraval, primo della trilogia, e ne rimane molto delusa. Nonostante nel suo commento su Goodreads abbia affermato che avrebbe continuato a leggere per il personaggio di Legend, i restanti volumi della trilogia non approdano mai nella sua libreria.
Anno 2023: Chiara aggiunge alla wishlist di Amazon Legendary e Finale.

His lips brushed over the delicate underside of her wrist. Once. Twice. Three times. It was barely a touch, and yet there was something incredibly intimate about it. It made her think of the other stories that said his kisses might have been fatal, but they were worth dying for. Jacks's cool mouth dragged intentionally back and forth over her racing pulse, velvety and gentle and—his sharp teeth dug into her skin.
Dopo solo dieci pagine ero già perdutamente, follemente innamorata di Jacks. Ma proprio in modo vergognoso, da sbavare 🙈 Non mi aspettavo proprio questa mia reazione. È stato come se Jacks mi avesse stregata! Il modo in cui si muove, in cui gesticola, in cui parla... Oh, chetati, mio cuore! 💘
Sometime, when she was feeling especially hopeful, Evangeline even thought that Jacks might come to her rescue. But as hopeful as Evangeline was, she knew the Prince of Hearts wasn't a savior. He was the one people needed saving from.
La scrittura di Stephanie Garber ha contribuito ad ammaliarmi inesorabilmente. Ho divorato pagina dopo pagina, senza mai tralasciare neanche una virgola. Questo libro è davvero UNPUTDOWNABLE! Io mi stanco facilmente, quando leggo, oppure mi distraggo una frase sì e una no, ma con questo romanzo mi sono ritrovata catapultata nel Magnificent North 🤩 Location pazzesca, descrizioni così vivide che avevo l'impressione di trovarmi lì, suoni e colori che mi hanno fatto sognare di poter partecipare alla Nocte Neverending!

Tornando a Jacks 👀 Il suo personaggio è davvero... possente. Non nel senso letterale del termine. Parlo della sua grandezza. È l'emblema dell'indolenza e, mi dispiace dirlo, proprio del cuore spezzato 😭 Non avendo letto il 2° e il 3° della trilogia di Caraval, nel momento in cui Jacks ha raccontato del suo passato mi sono spoilerata ogni singola cosa che avviene in Legendary e Finale 🤣 Ma, ehi, lo sapete, a me gli spoiler non creano problemi. Anzi, è stato proprio grazie a questo che a fine giugno comprerò quei due libri 😉
"Oh no, Little Fox. We have unfinished business." Jacks dropped his apple and took her neck, cupping her pulse with his cold palm.
"Jacks—" Evangeline gasped. "What are you doing?" And what had he just called her?
His other hand slid into her hair, mussing her curls. The touch was inappropriate and intimate as the too-familiar nickname he'd just given her. She could feel her chances at happily ever after slipping further away as she heard the party chatter shifting to whispers. A hundred tongues all suddenly talking about the scandalous way Jacks was holding her right under the prince's balcony. "Jacks, I told you I'd kiss three other people, not you."
"Then why aren't you pulling away?" he taunted.
"I can't fight you—you're a Fate."
"Liar. I'm not hurting you or kissing you." He moved the hand at her neck to toy with her racing pulse, softly dragging his fingers up and down over the frantic beat-beat-beat, making her heart pound even faster. "I think this excites you."
Se dovessi descrivere Evangeline e Jacks con una sola parola, sarebbe sensuali 🔥 Ci sono momenti in cui Jacks si muove in un lampo e si avventa su di lei come un predatore affamato, altri in cui la guarda come un rapace, altri ancora in cui è delicato.
"Careful with your threats." Jacks shot across the carriage and pressed the bloody tip of the dagger to the center of her mouth.
Siamo di fronte a uno Young Adult, è vero, ma per me alcune scene tra Eva e Jacks sono davvero, ma davvero HOT 😏 Così sexy che mi sono ritrovata a urlare: «Jacks, mordimi ovunque!». Vi dico soltanto che c'è una scena in cui Jacks le lecca la gola 👀
She eyed the jeweled dagger he'd just pressed to her lips. "I don't think you and I have the same definition of hurt."
"Be thankful for that, Little Fox." Jacks gave her a smile that was all sharp edges. A drop of blood fell from the corner of his mouth, and something godforsaken washed over his expression. "Hurt is what made me."
In conclusione, Once Upon a Broken Heart di Stephanie Garber è una lettura magica e seducente da cui è impossibile staccarsi, e Jacks, Prince of Hearts, è un villain assolutamente irresistibile che si insinuerà nel vostro cuore come il più inebriante dei veleni... per poi farlo in mille pezzi senza alcuna pietà.
Perché Jacks ha un piano.
Ed Evangeline è il suo mezzo per ottenere ciò che vuole.
